Excellent post and nice breakdown on the lines. When the trade first hit ESPN, I was walking through the break room at work and paused to see the details. One of my co-workers immediately started in on how the Jackets suck/are a joke and just traded the only good player on the team. Obviously he doesn’t follow hockey or the Jackets. There’s so much talent on the team, and I was satisfied with the trade because I do think that it’s very possible that the trade will end up being addition by subtraction.

For real. Everything I hear people saying–Dreger on NHL Network etc all say Carter is “available” not “imminently out of town come hell or high water by the trade deadline”. At this point nobody is “not available” but it has to be for the right deal whatever that may be.

I’d be pissed if Carter wasn’t pissed at how this season has gone both from a team standpoint as well as his injuries/somewhat less than he is capable of statistical production when available.

I just don’t get where these Dispatch guys are going with alot of their coverage of the CBJ. Its like that have some sort of self hating totally cynical (cloaked as “realistic”) way of trying to make these thing accurate rather than reporting what is actually happening.

This is a fun exercise! I’ve been trying to find song lyrics for my recaps, which isn’t always as easy/fun as I’d like it to be since there’s only so many “We Suck” songs out there. Between that and my Video Game Previews, I’m doing whatever I can to wring as much fun out of covering this team as possible. Enjoy the ride!

I hear you! I will always love our Columbus Blue Jackets. It’s just in my blood! I can’t help but love this town and this team. But right now….I’m not liking them! They’ve driven me to the internet DURING A GAME! I’ve never done this before but I can’t watch. Yes it’s still on in front of me. But it’s so hard. This is my team and I will follow them through hell and back (exhibit A: 2011/2012 season). I will cheer win or lose. But this is hurting so bad.

Great read! I love to hear some sanity out there amongst all the depression and dispare. This hockey club is my team through it all. As long as they work hard and their heart is in it I’m a proud fan. Let’s Go Jackets and Merry Wizmas!

Well said!!

The Sabres may be good for the moment but we know all about “almost but not quite” and playing 40 or 52 or 58 minutes of hockey.

Wins are great- brilliant and very fun, but all we fans really want is to see some effort. A losing game that is hard-fought and played well is sometimes better than a lazy win (at least for enjoyment purposes) A lazy loss is just rude and wasteful.
