According to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, prospect center Chris Francis has left his post with the Fort Wayne Komets of the CHL. Francis started the year with the Falcons, but was reassigned to Fort Wayne where he would have 17 points in 32 games played. The article mentions he had missed the previous two games with conjuctivitis (pink eye).

“It was his decision,” general manager David Franke said of Francis, who had four goals, 17 points, a minus-14 rating and 105 shots in 32 games.

Francis has returned to his home in Las Vegas and is awaiting reassignment by the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, who own his rights.

There’s not been any word from the Jackets on whether they’ll recall him to Springfield or reassign him elsewhere if at all.

By the way,  remember Jon Mirasty? The Syracuse Crunch, who had signed him after his ties to the Jackets were cut, loaned the tough guy to the Fort Wayne Komets.
